Bought myself a new camera lens while I was out in New York.

Its a Canon 17-85mm IS USM lens. Its awesome. I am loving it at the moment. Have taken around 1900 pics while I was in NY. The lens is great for pretty much everything. I just cant stop playing!

does seem expensive, BUT if the quality is there in the shots then a wise investment. I really wish I had a decent quality 'walkaround' lens that can do everything.

    show us your pics already!!!

Hmmm I'd says it's an OK lens! I never thought it's particularly sharp but the IS is good! You could have bought mine as I'm selling my 17-85!

How much for richwig? Got a 55-250 so if i can replace the sh*te kit lens 18-55 as well i'll be pretty much sorted for most circumstances

The IS makes so much difference and so far I have not had to change the lens everytime I want a little more zoom. I like it.

250+PP Its in good condition apart from where the lens hood screws in (never had one or use one with it anyway) a microscopic bit of the plastic has chipped, but if i hadnt told you, youd never notice it!

    Warning: I've got Nikon blinkers......

If you shot Nikon, the equivalent lens would have been a fair bit cheaper, and has a wider zoom range and bigger apperture:

Is your lens suitable for full-frame? Because they do cost a lot more with Nikon.
