I bought a car with only one key, it doesn't have remote locking on the fob. I'm assuming that the car probably has remote central locking tho? How can I tell if this is fitted? If it is fitted how do I go about getting a second remote fob key coded and cut? If it's not fitted what is the easiest way of having a second not remote fob key cut and coded?
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vw-remote-matching.html I guess log into vag-com and see if you can access that module. I have a spare flip key down my place you can try and code if you want. It came with the golf but the buttons dont do anything.
Im guessing your car didnt come with an SKC code written on a small plastic tag either? To make a new key work with the immo you will need the SKC and VAG-COM, you can pull the SKC out with Vag-tacho. immo key matching here http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_III_Key_Matching_(Cluster) Or go to vw and pay your pennies.
My dad got one for my audi after my brother bought it, cant remember who it was but ill ask tomorrow, I know normal key cutting places like Timpsons can do remote fobs with imobs but for some reason they couldnt do a 2000 A4.
I forgot to add to my post, decent automotive locksmiths can clone "immo" fobs now. Which usually works out a bit cheaper than a dealer. Look one up in the yellow pages.
