well if you plan to modify a car it might have been an idea to check the terms & conditions of the insurance company before signing on the dotted line as it were. I think the best solution would be to re-fit your standard springs & wait till the insurance has ran out. Then phone around some other companies who will allow you to modify the car in the way you intend to. Be-aware though, companies like HIC will charge more to insure the car as it is. The advantage is that they wont increase your premiums by silly amounts for mods.
Im 20 and when I phoned liverpool victoria they where by far the cheapest. And when I asked about mods they said "thats fine we dont charge any extra for that, only charge for engine mods"

Any mod you can think of are allowed and the insurance is based on the bhp your engine produces at the flywheel so it doesn't matter if your running a 1.3 or a 20v. When my policy runs out i think i'll use Brentacre, Didnt go with them this time as it was cheaper with somebody else, and i did everything online lol.
