No images as yet, pretty sure there's a min post count before you can post pics.

Is it a small bumper oaky?

A one in ten million will be an 88 E reg, so yes small bumper if it's still original. Looking forward to seeing pics. I had a Helios blue 1 in 10 mil.

Ok, so looks like my first post didnt work as i was still a newbie to club GTI, but i have now managed to add the pictures into that post!

so after agreeing a price when i first went to see the car i went back the following week to pick it up. As it was a nice day persuaded barn.mk2 to take me in his golf and then drive back together! B0382E0A-55E3-4A5F-B66B-A97E048EAD6C.jpeg D2B76103-5A63-4FCD-8595-652CD286F123.jpeg
Compared to my 1.6tdi daily the car felt rapid!

For my first few months of ownership i mostly just enjoyed the car it was running well and i started to take it to a few classic

it was also time for my first few "mods" these included a GTI shift knob and a set of rubber floor mats, these tiedied up the interior alot! D125550B-97E3-4BD9-9D40-51A46B1D7447.jpeg

As summer 2022 began to fade out i drove the car alot less, an outing to caffine and the machine would be the last time the car would move for 8 weeks!

over the next two months we had a wet autum and i didnt drive the car much, but i am keeping it on the drive way i still washed the car every week and began treating myself to some more bits! I also started to learn more about the golfs 8v heart. I replaced the rocker cover gasket, resprayed the rocker cover, replaced the broken fan, fitted a short shifter linkage and replaced the shifter linkage bushings as my first few mechanical jobs. 54E9BB6C-E652-49C1-88D1-4E62185B6472.jpeg 6D40BF36-EB7D-429F-A505-BB6ECBFBFF1D.jpeg D314E99A-2134-4923-AD50-E8107B1805B1.jpeg 4FAEC718-1E29-4CAD-A0B9-0A0AB6DF0A94.jpeg D621A783-87CD-42EA-B23C-6721CADE4920.jpeg 1221228D-BE46-42D3-8C7C-47FD18BFCE2E.jpeg 3A8263AD-88AC-49D3-8470-9064AB9C454C.jpeg 4CA2FEE9-3DFC-44F4-A204-8A212101C4F1.jpeg 8014AF16-A118-4062-9548-1110A6303DB1.jpeg

now i have fitted the shiny new fan it made the fan housing look even more scabby than it did look. so while i wasn't driving the car i took the fan to work where i blasted it, and then repainted it with a rattle can something i have become quite good at now lol 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg

up until this point I had kept the car completely stock (apart from the short shift linkage). This was partly because being a young driver the insurance on the car was high enough already, and partly because I had spent all my money fixing stuff and had no budget for any hop-ups or modifications.

i liked the look of the stock car however among my friends the car had earned the nickname "the monster truck" because of its enormous arch gap, and i did agree that the car did look oddly "moster-truckish" especially due to the smaller 14 inch wheels that came on the 1 in 10 million. so when I found a set of unused budget coil overs on Facebook market place only 30 minutes drive away i decided it would be cheap way to get rid of my arch gap. i collected them and then fitted them the next weekend, while i was there i also replaced all the top mounts. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg

at this point i left the car sat for a month or so as winter 2022 set in, however the clutch master cylinder on my mk6 tdi daily driver decided it wanted to be broken. my local garage said that they book it in for a couple of weeks, and me being a broke 19yr old with 2 cars i also could also barley afford to fix it. This left the mk2 on daily duties for a couple of weeks.

The car had been sat on my grandparents drive for a good 6 weeks now, and life had got in the way so it wasn't getting any attention. so when i went to "recommission" the car for daily duties i was presented with a very wet and moldy interior. much to my disgust i then spent the weekend tearing apart the interior and tracking down the leak which turned out to be the passenger door membrane. After I replaced this and valeted the whole interior the car was ready to face the wet winter roads. 1.jpg

my bank account didn't enjoy the amount of V-power this thing was chugging through though!

Do like an Oak green MK2, and looks like you landed on your feet to get such a great one too.

Kudos to you also for keeping the car tip-top, not easy or cheap!

What's on it are the original "le castellet" wheels for a 1 in 10 mil, so if you can I recommend you hang on to them so the car can always be returned to standard at some point.

Looking good though, I had a Hellios 1 in 10, it was not in a good state though :-(

Thanks, the ronal wheels are a bit different and looked great with a chunky tyre will post some pictures of when I put them on in my next update. I am still about 10months behind where I am now with the car!

yeh I did a lot of research into what made the 1 in 10 million different when I first bout it. Was aware of what the wheels were! I have tried my best to hang onto all the original parts I have taken off - unfortunately I wasn’t able to save the original shocks and springs but I have everything else as one day the car will probably be worth more standard.
