I recently got a flea bay blue kkl cable I downloaded vcds lite plugged in to my skoda superb and my mates vw sharan connects and works a treat reads codes from a lot of modules. So I connected up to my mk2 vr it won't connect to ecu.i have wired in a 16 pin obd port pin 4 ground. pin16 feed. pin7 data from pin 43 on ecu and never bothered with yellow wire I think L line as I've no abs etc.i connect car up ignition on start vcds and try an engine scan it just doesn't see the ecu. am I doing something wrong? My mk2vr is Obd1 distributor model.cheees

After that port test it should connect fine. As this is a conversion does the ECU actually power up or is this a running car?

Why is the opto/iso no and the Ross design no?

Ebay cables are not brilliant and can be random as best.

The Skoda is KWP2000 the VR6 is KWP1281.

Tool and the cracked software may not be backwards compatible with pre EOBD vehicles.

Most of the other legit stuff is around the same price.

Best to look at a place like Gendan for a cable. Well worth it.

One thing I checked my vr is early 93 on the k line I have battery voltage I read up on the radio problems but I've cut my cable direct at ecu and on the output from ecu pin43 I still have battery voltage with ignition switched on.should there be that much voltage on a data line?

Thought I'd update this.i got connected I had to connect the L line aswell as the K as the wake up for ecu is sent down the L line and data back up the K line.
