I finally got round to sorting out the rev counter after megasquirt my mk2. Used the usual diode method from the coil pack, Rev counter now works However when i rev over about 6k the oil warning light and buzzer come on?! I don't have the pressure switches fitted so I've tried isolating the low and high oil pressure wires but no joy. Any ideas? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
you have to earth the yellow wire and leave the blue/black disconnected to defeat the oil pressure system
Nice one will give that a go, i tried disconnecting both and earthing both but not just blue /black. Hopefully get the warning switches working again at some point. Since i did the tacho mod the mfa has stopped working, anyone experienced this before? Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
Its 9a block and head, abf cams, abf inlet, ms1, wasted spark with pug coil pack. Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
Ah. Similar config to mine. No I have no such problems. Do check the earths for the cluster though. Brown/white wire
Ah yes that could be it,i also tidied some of what i thought were redundant earth's,might be one of those. Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
That wire was causing a 10 deg delta on my oil temp readings when it is connected and when it is not. I would run it straight to the battery -ve to be sure.
if its a CE1 fusebox there is a brown/white wire in the engine loom to the side of the head which is the main dash earth, you'll find a male spade near the fusebox with a wire from the dash clocks and another to the MFA stalk for this one. on the CE2 fusebox there are 2 earths for the cluster you have one which earths internally to the fusebox and another which runs out from G1/5 to the side of the head, I assume its a reference earth for the MFA oil temp sensor or something. either way as eddie says you can earth them anywhere decent so to straight to the battery, chassis, earth claw above the fusebox etc and it should work just as well as to the head
Thanks for your help, turned out to be a blown fuse for the mfa, just a coincidence with the tach input. Always worth checking the simple stuff! Will test out the oil pressure buzzer fix later in the week. Cheers Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
