    Hi.

My 16v Mk2 has blown two oil filter O ring gaskets out and had not been running well from cold. I thought I would take off the sump and check the oil pump pick up filter and the oil pressure relief valve.

The sump was quite clean and pick up filter was OK. Now I have the pump dismantled on the floor. What I can't work out is how the valve actually works and whether I should be able to physically move the valve. I figure it is the one that has the trumpet shaped end with the tiny hole in it. Does it go in or out?

    Hope you can help.

    Cheers.

    Darryl
