They're not worth much anymore, I'll give you a tenner for it... ;)

Even with 145k, in good nick with fsh it should be worth 1500-2000

what about rust? things like broken windscreen & lights not working aren't really going to be any problem. Rust is the main problem on a mk1. If it's rust free then it's going to be worth a bit.

feck me... I thought Id be lucky to get a monkey for it!

not seen any rust on it - could stand a t-cut and polish though - few small dents and chips about... might spend some time tidying it up then...

No, he's not. I just bought a campaign model in June, paid 3250 for her but she is quite clean, has all original panels and I wanted her so wasn't too concerned about the cost. Stupid I know but I wanted one for years so couldn't pass up the oppertunity.

1500 - 2000, thats abit ambitious it's it? would have though more the range of 600 - 800. With that kind of mileage.

Mine cost 350 with 82k on the clock and no rust 5 years ago.

    For a campaign?

I'll give you 500 now, 150 profit over 5 years, can't be bad on a 2nd hand car

mods - this, despite appearances, isn't a sales thread...

5 years go though they weren't as "classic" as they are now... what with the golf being a dying breed un all

if it's a mk1 then it's definately worth keeping. i'd keep it as standard as possible if i were you, or if you were going to mod it, keep any modifications reversable, as it'll be worth a hell of a lot more in standard condition

Three spoke steering wheel, P-slot alloys, sunroof, a few other things that I can't remember. There's no badge differences to tell definatively as it's not an actual a VW recognized special edition, just an end of life run out edition.
There is a good chance yours is as it is an A reg and campaigns are all A reg.

7mm gaps between the P's on the alloys (10mm gaps are from mk2). Serial number between WVW ZZZ 17DW 521182 and WVW ZZZ 17EW 999999. A few other details as well, but the vin number is the clincher really.

I came on this website to ask these questions a month ago, haven't left since, have now got a mk2 16v and have abandoned all hope of any other life. Get out while you can, save yourself, for the love of god man!!!!

Have a look on the campaing register, it gives details of how to check if your one is a campaign or not. Chassis number and a few other things to check for.

Yer sorry, was thinking of the early Mk1's for some reason, with the three spoke metal and leather wheel.

    Shame on me [:$]
