Online quotes are w*** in my experience. Namely because I'm 18 and nowhere will quote me on anything!

Confused take the relevent information and then stick it through a ton of other online insurance companies automatically. You then get a list of who's online quote is cheapest.

I always buy on-line as i can never be arsed to phone round different places to keep saying the same things. Like Stef says useConfused.com then you only type everything in once

    Direct choice
Although I renewed with the AA, they gave me a reasonable quote (330 - 38, 9 yrs protected, parked on road) and pretty good with my Ducati as well (900SS, 255 - 1 yr NCB, no prangs, just graraged for 5 years so lost all NCB).

Maybe different for someone 20 years younger than an old fart like me :)

Hey, im 18 and got some good quotes on my 90 mk2 gti 8v!!! Hence, why i have one. If i didnt get a cheap quote, i would probably have a ford, or a vauxhall, lol!!!

The 16v was another story tho, wanted 50% extra to insure it over the 8v. Simple choice really!

And yes, i payed for mine all online, alot easier!

Confused is ok, but i find you get about 10-25 companies giving stupid high quotes!

Insurance is just ludicrously expensive, I really need to do some ringing around this year coz it's got to the point where I've got a good driving record and I'm still being stiffed.

I'm 23, 6 yrs NCB, no points, and I live in what I would think would be a low crime area.

The best that I've found so far is 700 fully comp on a MK3 GTI(8V). I'm not gonna touch HIC coz my brother was with them a few years ago and they never actually sent out a policy, just cover notes for 12 months.

I think Liv Vic quoted about 1100 which is pathetic.

The best I heard was from Chruchill tho, they say that they won't insure anyone on a Golf GTI until they're 30!!!!!! [:D]

Anyone recommend any good companies. BTW I tried that one third down on the list and they wanted 1200, hmmmmmm NO!

Try the insurance bit on moneysupermarket.com ;)

Lot of Mates are telling me Noriwch Union are doing good deals at the moment.

Apparently most of the Insurance companies are all the same anyway. Tesco is Direct Line etc etc etc etc [:s]

Actually, the underwriter may be the same (Lloyds), it's all middle men, then brokers. You can get quoted the same insurance company by two different brokers and get two different quotes.

No Idea [:s] But trust me the majority of them are connected.;) And they have "Targets" One time it maybe johnny youngster and his MR2 and they will fight for business and the next it will be grandpa and the Volvo they fight for.

    Sucks big time [:s]

I was phoning around for insurance last week and one company quoted me 995 and ask me if I wished to accept it. After saying that I had more phone calls to make and that I wasn't going to accept it there and then, they immediately said "well how about if we drop it to 895". Just like that! It certainly pays to phone around and try and play them off against each other.
