While I'm waiting for some bits to turn up thought I'd finally post up the complete build of the white mk2 I finished earlier in the year.

As it was when it turned up...

The plan was to refresh the engine bay and tidy the pipe work up a bit. Nothing to dramatic shouldn't take to long...

Out with the engine for better access...

Covered up the CV joints and gave it a good de-grease and jet wash...

Not all bad but a few areas that needed a bit of treatment...

Out with the heater box and carpet on the bulkhead to be able to weld in a patch on the bulkhead and then on with prepping for paint. Nothing fancy just wire wheeled the rusty bits and treated them with hammerite krust. Then primered and rubbed down ready for paint....

    On with the paint...

Made up a little brace to go between the bulkhead and the chassis to reduce the flex felt in the pedals when braking and pressing the clutch.

While the paint was left to harden for a few days attention turned to the gearbox as like always "while it's apart I might as well" happened the box was stripped, checked cleaned and reassembled with a Wavetrack diff...

Up next was to clean up the engine and fit a C&R hybrid K03s, nothing too mental but perfectly suited to what the car will be used for.

Now the paint was hard the engine bay could start going back together. For a bit of bling the bulkhead was covered with heat protection, which was a nightmare to fit round all the contours but turned out ok. The subframe and the brake servo where also treated to a fresh coat of shiny black paint before being refitted.

Next up was to tidy up the pipe work. This I must admit did get a bit out of hand! I accept full responsibility for this as I had a few ideas that I thought would really suite the car well and wanted to try them out. I'm just lucky that my mate was patient enough to wait for me to do it all.
Made up a new header tank, PAS reservoir and screen wash bottle. The PAS and screen was bottle was just made out of some of the boost pipe offcuts but the header tank was all made from scratch.

All that was left was to tidy up the loom and refit it.

Fantastic work. There are a few areas of inspiration I've had from that. Thanks for sharing the pictures and keeping the thread updated.
