Hi, 1.6 Gti engine prefix EG. Tick over far far too fast Have removed and checked the Auxiliary Air Valve which appears to be working OK. Have checked all vacuum hose connections for air leaks and replaced all clips with new ones. Inlet manifold removed, surfaces cleaned and new gasket fitted. Minumum air feed checked and adjusted (piece pf thin paper and then screwed in half a turn) Brass slow running nut set at about half way. Timing checked. Engine fires up, runs a few seconds, slows right down. Runs like that for a few seconds and then revs increase to a very fast tick-over. What else can I adjust? Thanks again.
did you manage to track down one of those vacumm pump thingys? I'm sure I recall reading a post with similar issues that were solved by replacing this part
