I have this 'open with' virus on my laptop.
It's a right ***** because whatever you do it asks how you want to open it.
I've gone into 'Start' 'Run' and it's saying that there's no regedit files so won't actually let me do anything.
Also, it won't run my anti-malware because it asks how to open it.

This is a nightmare, any ideas?
Oh, I've tried going into safemode and it won't work that way either.

I'd love to have a face to face meeting with one of these low life child molesting pedo virus writers...........he'd/she'd never use a f cking keyboard again[:x]

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Mart. Sounds like the file associations have been messed about with. Not a 'virus' in itself but possibly caused by malware / virus. There are quite a few solutions you can find for this on Google.

Think I found something mate, autorun.inf. I'll have a play about in the morning but it's a right pig. Really does stop you doing anything with it directly. I'd love to meet the person responsible.....pussy!

Not too sure what version of Windows you have but this'll make exe's work again for most versions of Windows...

You want the (Restore default association for EXE files) one.

You can change the default programs associated with file types easy. It's in the add/remove programs list, file defaults or something like that. Might be a "reset to default" button.

I know what the cause was...............not doing what AVG said and allowed the file to open anyway. Doh, what a tw4t lol

At the time it wasn't an option as the pesky virus managed to stop me doing everything lol.

Job done through Dos, then ran Malware bytes to finish it off.
