Does anyone have any experience with mask unit's do they
have a special cage to stop them getting taken???

I know there guaranteed but i know the older ones were easy to
remove as my mate had two pinched

i have a (currently broken) manual mask kenwood. you can either mask it or remove the faceplate (thats why its called d-mask). be warned mine has broken the connecter from the faceplate to the main unit...they can be weak (but mines is quite old now).

Picked my new one up the other day. Got a nice Alpine CDA7998 MP3 CD unit. Can't repeat what i paid, as it's obscenely cheap considering an RRP of over 800!! Also got a couple of Pheonix Gold amps into the deal too which made it even better!

The cage is quite normal, but
    a) on all but the earliest, you can remove the face plate rather than just close it. (in fact mine might as well not be a mask, as I remove the face virtually every time I get out of the car anyway!)
    b) they have the 'mask key' which renders the unit inoperable until you use the infrared key to reactivate it, once it has been disconnected from power.

Cheers Mr B was wondering as my mate had a window broke
when they took the first one and ripped it out leaving the alarm
going all day till he got home

This is the weird one got home to find the replacement gone
but all unwired and the alarm re activated and doors locked

He never replaced it again don't ask me why even though
kenwood would have replaced it just think he was sick of
people messin with his car albeit a Nova

Nice choice. Just put a CD/MP3 player in mine. Well impressed with the sound quality on MP3 playback. Only drawback is the slightly longer access time but i can live with that. Only have to carry 3 disc in thye car now [8D]

    Good choice!

Installed my KDC-PSW9524, which is the one up i think [:$] It's got the same MASK system anyway, all fully motorised and the two faces fold out flat to put the CD in - love it! It'll be worth the 3 week wait!
