Hi A work colleague of mine had a flat battery in his 1.8 20v 1997 pishrat yesterday. As often happens, the engine was jumpstarted, and later got a new battery, now it idles roughly. Sounds like something's been fried or upset by the jump start, but is there an ECU reset procedure he can try - similar to the Mk2 Digi one for example? Any suggestions, other than 'throw it away and give me the engine'
There's a learning proceedure in haynes, briefly; you need to run all the windows upto their stops and run the engine at all loads between 2000 and 4000 rpm. You also need to load the engine up with everything at tickover when it's warm, ie all electrical stuff and the PAS. EDIT: it's cos you dissconnected the bat' Edited by: mark25
the sunroof too, you need to hold the buttons for a few seconds in the closed position. PM with an e mail add if you want a photo of the relevant page in the 'book of lies', i don't think it will go down too well if i post it on here
Thanks for all the help Mark My email is mikehorsb@aol.com It's in my profile anyway, so I'm not worried about publishing it.
Sorry to hijack the posts but my mate has a mk2 digi gti which runs like poo. What is this reset procedure you talk of? I haven't been able search previous posts for ages now??? Cheers Carl.
that doesn't have the same ecu, look in the faq's and only searching in 'engines' may get you a result.
