uzair. Odds are that the clutch you buy from gsf or europarts of the dealer are the identical. But. VW source clutches from various suppliers such as: SACHS, LUK, VALEO and you take pot-luck as to which the dealer hands over the counter. With people such as gsf, you can often choose which brand you buy. IMHO go for SACHS. Dave.
thnx Daved going to pick up the clutch from gsf will let you knw wht mke they gave me your info is lot of help and am really grateful to you thnx
hi picked the clutch up from gsf and its sachs now thinking of getting the flywheel done at the same time aswel thnx for your info
Went to get the flywheel from gsf and they where giving me luk one told them i got the sachs clutch yesterday when they checked they said thats the wrong clutch asked me to bring it back and take the luk clutch n flywheel but i wanted the sachs as daved recommended dnt know what to do is luk good as sachs any help wil be grateful thnx
uzair. I am getting a bit confused now. You mention a flywheel? The flywheel should not require changing! What Passat have you got? What year? What engine? Dave.
Thanks Danny. I should have re-read post #1! etc. etc. Trouble is. Everytime I see clutch I feel I must try to help! ps. You can call me Dave!
Its passat 1.9tdi 130 2004 mileage is 113000 clutch is slipping in high gears so going to change the clutch and lots of passat owners say that change the flywheel aswell because they are common to change at around this mileage and thnx guys for your help so should i go for luk for clutch and flywheel?
Sorry uzair. I got confused with myself! I think I understand now. I was thinking only of earlier clutches, for the 020 gearbox cars, when I pushed SACHS at you. Because your car has a conventional design of clutch I believe that there will be little difference in the design of the LUK or SACHS units. On 020 clutches they are quite different in design. LUK are a top manufacturer and it is only on the 020 type where I believe that they could have done better. I also now realise that dual-mass flywheels do often need changing. Once again, I appologise for causing you problems. Dave.
Hi daved no need to opplogise its ok and any advice from u is all good going to give the sachs clutch back and get the luk it was gsf fault for giving me wrong clutch so its cool am really pleased for your help thnx and another thing am thinking of while its in the garage to get the ecu remaped guy is going to charge me 250 to do that so its going to be a big bill clutch flywheel timing belt and tht remap is 250 on its own lol
just updating got clutch done didnt need the flywheel, and got timing belt changed with water pump and got ecu remapped car sounds sweet and man it goes pretty well, thnx guys for your help
