just been having a look at these on the mighty autotrader!

5k for a 4litre w8 passat, bargain! they come in at 270bhp - anyone know what sort of power they might push out with a bit for work? perhaps a remap and exhaust etc.

seem like a wicked sleeper model! :p

Be warned, I looked at these & the main thing that put me off is that a lot of the parts on the car are bespoke to that model & are therefore a lot more expensive than standard Passat parts.

few guys over on ukpassats have them- hard to do anything much to them as the engine bay is so cramped, which limits putting turbos or a charger on, and its a very unusual engine so there isnt really any tuning parts that will fit.

one guy had good results making a bespoke airbox from stainless steel and getting the thing remapped, but still only got another 20bhp or so.

also theres a few engine sensors that have given issues that are engine out jobs to replace [:s]

nice comfy cars though with uber spec :)

A8's cost an arm and a leg, and IMO the W8 has a better image or if you can a W12

Wouldn't fancy paying for a service or cylinder head job on a W8.
Dull as ditchwater visually too, rare for a reason.

I too looked at W8s, but they're just too damn heavy! Curb weight was around 2 tons IIRC [xx(]

If your going to get as poor a mpg as you would with that then it ought to be rapid as foook to make it worth while!!!

to get one of those to be as quick as an rs6 would require a minor miracle
