I recently had my Bora Pd130 serviced. I thought the recommended oil was 5/40w, however the dealer who serviced it, has put in 5/30w. Which is the right oil? And will 5/30 if it's wrong do any damage? The car is high mileage and would prefer to look after it as best as possible.
I was always led to believe the 1.9 pd's use a pd specific 5w40 fully synthetic. 5w30 seems a tad thin to me. I could be wrong though
Right im going to drop out the new oil as I'm not sure if it meets the spec. I have some carlube 5/40 fully synth, which says its rated to the 500. Numbers and made for VW PD's Will this be ok? I got it from GSF? Or do I buy the quantum stuff?
it needs to be 505.01 for pd's not 505.00. The carlube from gsf will be ok if it says 505.01 on it. You say a dealer serviced it was it a main dealer? If so the 5w30 they put in was probably http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-VW-Q...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc280c7f6 Which is a very good oil anyway...
Spoke to the place that did it, they only use proper grade pd oil so I have been informed. I'm happy with that. Thanks for the help though!
I put 10w40 diesel spec in my 1z, seems to be alot of confusion on the net as to what oil it should be running regardless of mileage.
