I'm looking at getting a diesel mk4 golf. Not sure wat engines are better though out of the 130 and 150 pd engines. I had a drive of a 130 a few days ago and seemed to pick up really well from low rpm. Going to look at a 150 soon. Just wondered what peoples views or experiences are with these engines, performance, economy, pros and cons etc.

Physically the same engine. Turbo , ecu and maybe a few other different parts.
All come with chocolate cams ( if not serviced regularly ) as well as tappets, injectors can fail, turbos can stick causing overboost issues.
Inside the 150 gets a wood effect trim which isn't too bad.
Compared to the 2 litre 16v they feel a stronger engine.

Don't me the above put you off, just find a good one and you'll be landed. I enjoyed my 150 mk4 and kept it the longest I've kept any car!
