I have just got myself a VW T4 Transporter for my business so my Mk2 gti is going onto classic insurance. I have done a bit of ringing around and was shocked by the HIC (Herts Insurance) quote for a modified/classic policy on my 1991 gti 8 valve. Mods declared included the following:- Ported head Kent cam Eibach Arbs Eibach lowering springs Supersprint exhaust 16V front calipers and discs 3000 miles a year, fully comp insurance with Herts, I was quoted 445!! I am 43 years old, with 9 years NCB and the car will be garaged in a leafy part of Kent!! I rang Peter Best insurance following the recommendation of VW Singh in a post on here. Gave them the same details...guess what ? 176.53 RESULT!! Try them out. I spoke to a lady called Di and she was very helpful and friendly. p.s. she took my Clubgti membership number and gave a discount! p.p.s. Forgot to mention that is an assured value policy as well!
