I thought there was talk of this before but I couldn't find anything, so i'm starting a MONTHLY competition, as the title suggests. I've noticed alot of people into photography on the forums, and a few people looking to get a cam for christmas, so thought this would be a nice edition to the section. To keep things fair i'm suggesting that people send me their entries by pm and i'll start the poll, this stops people nicking others ideas, and I can tell if the photo has been radically changed in photoshop cropping and slight exposure compensations are allowed Entries to me BY christmas eve (24th december ) and the poll will run until the 31st, when the winner will be announced and can select the theme for Januaries competition then repeat process. Decembers theme shall be an easy one, boring maybe, but some good results will come of it I feel, perfect for this time of year: TREE(S)
Should it also be that the photo has to be taken after the comp was posted, to stop people posting old piccies?
Exactly! Christmas is too cliche and has TOO much scope, the tree theme is perfect I reckon, and wasn't up for debate If someone else wants to run another competition, obviously I can't stop them, and if no one enters this, then, ah well, but I thought i'd give it a crack anyway! andy - good idea, was going to mention that, i'll check the exif data, and if the pic doesn't have any then I know it's been fettled with
image doesn't need to be a particular size and exif data tells you everything about the settings on the camera when it was taken inc date, aperture, iso, f stop etc.........
Good idea, Wez - I'll try to find a tree to photograph (if they've not all been chopped down for firewood around here ) PS - how do you find the exif stuff? I've only ever seen it in PS when I've opened a file. Or is that what you'll do?
I’ve only ever seen the info on the camera before transferring the images onto the HD, only ever cropped and resized the images
So whilst everyone else is busy enjoying turkey and Christmas pud and alcohol, these poor people will be wrestling with a new camera that they only got that morning, going out to photograph a tree, coming back and fettling in Photoshop, in order to meet the deadline for the competition, in which there is no prize! Then they'll find out all the mince pies have been eaten, too! That's dedication for you!
Just tried looking at the properties of an image in a folder on my hard drive, and looking at summary/advanced. I get more details, but not as many as you. Any ideas as to how I get more?
