my mate who drives the mk2 polo saloon wanted some new bumpers so we went to the scrap yard and looked at all polos and there was nothin on them worth putting on his car. so we took a mk2 golf front big bumper to see if it would work and after lots of work putting the skin on the frame he fitted it and had to chop the sides down to fit the arches. looks nice but i didnt think that it would fit but he made it fit and now needs to put the clips for the side on to keep it on properly. he has also cut out the huge hevy metel plate the back seat clips into that also seperates the boot from the inside of the car. guess what i am really in need of knowing now is what kinda speed would a 693kg car running 110bhp get? running on 13" alloys lowered 45mm performance cam longer gear ratios bolt on air filter (K&N) plus others mods that or kinda secret and he would kill me if i told anyone including a gas that goes into the carb to make it go quicker LOL!!! clock only goes upto 100mph but has been past that so many times i dont think i have seen it do less than the clock on the motorway Edited by: Mk2 Jettagod
It would be very rapid. IF it had 110bhp. The 55 bhp 1.3 lump needs higher compression pistons, twin carbs, a good, flowed big valve head, a four branch, a proper cam and some quality time on the rollers to see 110bhp. Its perfectly possible, but not cheap or easy. The 693kg figure is about right though, so no argument there
It's not structural is it? A few years back an ICE installation company did that on an M3 Convertible and it literally folded up when driven!
no it wasnt structual (thank god). and the 1.3 had sumin daft like 75bhp before we started! (roling road tested and engine code tested to VW book cos i doughted him aswell before the work was done
So it's running a 3F or NZ motor then? And has thrown away the injection in favour of a carb? I'm sorry I'm not getting a convincing picture here. I've done personally, or had first hand experience of most things you can do with an old polo, so more detail or STFU. Thankyouplease.
do you mean a mk3 polo saloon? they (like mine) quite often came with the NZ engine which is more likely to be able to be tuned to 110bhp than the normal SPI mk3 polo engine. unless he's put a GT (75bhp as standard) engine into it & tuned that, it's not too much effort to break the 100 barrier wit those. although why you'd put a carb onto it (unless it's twin 40s or something) is beyond me have you got any dyno plots to show us? or even pics of the car? Oh yeah, a 55bhp Polo with a type of gas injection taking it to 110bhp. Well, thats a very secret 50bhp Nitrous Injection then eh?
A stock hydro head 55bhp 1272 motor with a weber replacement carb would happily handle a 50bhp or more wet nitrous kit. The bottom end is nearly as tough as a G40 - low compression, same rods / fasteners. Crank isn't so hot unless its an HH code, and pistons aren't so good, but the combustion temperatures shouldn't get out of hand anyway. However even that won't actually give you 110bhp, for the short period it'll run on the gas. (Mathers, from team guru ran nitrous on his 3F motor for a good while, that DID kick ass, but only occasionally ) Anyway, all this info is wasted here, because the more I think about it the faster the stench of bullshit becomes unbearable...
1. it aint my car its a mates! 2. no its a mk2 saloon! 3. will get engine code to shut you up! 4. never had injecters! 5. just came off the rolling road today and has 104bhp was 6bhp off o and; 6. NOS is no more he sold it to find out how to turn into G40 engine
