hi guys im after a little help i have an N reg polo that wont start i turn the key and the starter doesnt make a sound i have replaced the starter for a new 1 and bench tested it before fitting i turn the key and get nothing

i also have a push button for a start as well incase you stall it you dont need to re crank it over neither the key or push button kick the starter in to life you here the fuel pump prime but nothing else when i removed the old starter i had power to the 2 ring terminals that supply power as this shorted when removing the old sterer but symptoms still remain

are there any fuses or relays that i can check to stop me from going mad and so i can get this car back on the road

    thanks

    what polo is it?
sounds liek the trigger wire for the starter is broken somewhere, or alarm/immob failure. try bridging the trigger terminal on the starter with 12v direct from the battery, if that works then its the wiring or your switches. if not, starter, battery or battery cable problem

Yup, should be the only wire to the starter motor solenoid with a 'plug-on' connector.
