    Hi Ben,

If youve ever had anything remotely modern to drive before you will find it horrible to. Crappy breaks, horrendous gear change and so tiny and cheap feeling. Probably good fun on track but not as a daily driver it feels like your driving a poverty spec poo box.
Reasonable poke for a 1.3 as well but thats your lot. Had a G40 for a while and that was fun in a straight line thrash but terrifying at 70mph on a motorway.

A G40 is not terrifying at 70mph on the motorway[:s]

I did Glasgow to Swindon and back in a weekend for Inters one year no problem.

The brakes are easily upgraded aswell.

In 11 years of driving i've owned 1 mk2 and 4 mk3 Polos, great cars

NO!!!! There great cars loads of chuckable fun! they go well enuff for what they are (gt's) and you will not get bored! strip it, cage it, put some decent suspention on it, upgrade the brakes (really cheap to do) and you have a very fun car!

    As above, really.

The best demonstration of a Polo trackday car. Dogwood, having a hoot, sometime 2002, at a Club GTI Blyton trackday.

Most hatches make good trackday cars - usual principles: brakes, suspension, gearing. Engine sometimes dealt with last.

Had a Mk3 GT for 5 years, lowered 40mm, absolutely great fun :) As above for upgrades. Easy to work on too, small and light, plus lots of room in the engine bay too ! Perhaps uprate the anti-roll bar(s) if you can for the track.

A Stealth Bread-van G40 (with a G60 charger) is the way to go!
