power steering fluid replacement

    can someone confirm it's atx fluid to put in the power steering resevoir and how much i need?

    The reason no one has replied is cos you don't say what year and car it is. Early cars ran on Dexron 2 ATF and the later cars on VW mineral oil.

    i put mineral in my 90h valver seems to be fine ! got it from vw g2 i think

    it's a 91 8v

    If it's a '91 it should have Dexron 2 ATF in it.

    Depends how well you drain the system. I would guess (and I mean guess) at around 1 1/2 to 2L.

    lol golden it owuld be alright if she was doing the work! got to replace the pump hoping that will fix the dodgy power steering. so will drain it as much as possible

    Move the wheels lock to lock several times to help drain the system and get as much as possible out ;)

    plus you need to turn the wheels from lock to lock after you've refilled it to bleed the system.

    As I remeber they don't have one, it bleeds itself as the fluid circulates through it.

    this ps system is p****** me off. unless i can get 17mm brake pipe spanner i'll give the pump to garage to change! never had any prbs with the others :(
