    Hi,

Does anyone else have any issues with their powered steering in the rain? When I’m parking or going around a corner, it feels like the power steering pump momentarily stops working making the steering a dead weight. It’s a safety concern now so would like to get it fixed.

Steering pump fluid is at correct level and the system doesn’t make any unusual noises.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Is the drive belt slipping when it gets wet? Have you tried tightening/ replacing the belt?

aye check/tension/replace belt first, usually sorts it. there is a splash shield available, but you're usually fine without

I had a new belt fitted a few weeks ago an all was well - until last night. Went around a corner and hit water. Steering went dead on me again. I have found an engine under tray for my car I could buy. Is this the splash shield that would hopefully prevent this happening? Wouldn’t have a clue how to fit it to under the car.

Thanks Jonny. Just watched a few videos on YouTube on fitting. Someone recommended just fitting with cable ties as fittings can rust and be a pain to get off.

ordered now so will pick up next week.

    cheers.

If it is like the mk2 one, it was m6 bolts or screws from memory, easy to fit. But cable ties were a useful idea on my a4 as a couple of the captive nuts had corroded and so just snipped them when service time.
