    Hi

I think my brake servo is the way out.

When you press the brake pedal you can hear a hissing noise plus the engine then runs lumpy.

Removed the panel around the pedals and the hissing is definitely coming from the servo - also when the car reaches say 4k rpm or more you can hear hissing which I'm pretty sure is from the same area. Also powers been down since the hissing at high revs started.

    Any thoughts on this?

Can you repair a brake servo or is it best to replace it?

    Cheers
    Mark

Sounds like a leak in the vacuum supply to the servo. Double check that the pipe running from the inlet to the servo isn't cracked and that it isn't just loose where it attaches to the servo. If the pipework and connections all seem ok then it prob. is the servo itself and this will need replacing. you should be able to pick one up from a scrappy for around a fiver.

Forgot to mention - the brake pedal goes down as it should do when you start up the car.

Pipes seem okay so think a replacements needed.

Is it unusual for a brake servo to mess up the running of the car?

if a broken servo is venting the vacuum system then this will affect the way the car runs.
