It can't rain all the time A bit of oil on the pivot points and working of the lever should sort it. Yes you'd need to make an adjustment as the spring will lose tension. You can do the front first. My car is still raked like this as the rear beam bushes needed doing and it was still getting heavily loaded up in the boot at the time.
It can't rain all the time - excellent cheers man, I'll be getting under soon to have a good look at it. Got my Bible er... Haynes too
Little update, just won these on ebay for 74 with decent tyres (apparently). Collect em on Tuesday! 14" Rivage (Le Castelette?) alloys if I'm not mistaken? Question is, do I Polish or spray satin silver?
Woke up this morning to this! So after a little clearing and gritting I braved the roads to pick up my new rims from a guy in Stockport. 2 are currently at my local tyre shop getting new rubber, 2 have around 6-7mm tread left Also got a chance, between blizzards, to get under and check out my brake regulator. They were not wrong. Its very stiff so I've soaked it in WD40. Should help
If youre going to use them all year around then Id definitely NOT polish them. If you do go down the polish route, consider them like a beautiful but extremely high maintenance girl friend! Love this thread buddy, keep up the good work.
What an elegant analogy lol haha Maybe a painted finish is the way to go then. Satin silver or maybe a nice sparkling graphite Cheers man Im enjoying doing it, when the weather improves the updates will too haha
Got a few jobs done today as the weather was "nice" (for Mcr). Oil & filter change Sump gasket change Rocker cover gasket change new wheels on And wheels on Car's filthy but the wheels are an improvement
Cheers man. Still need to do PAS and Alt belts, new shocks and lowered springs N/S wishbone (someone only replaced O/S) Track rod ends The list goes on
No didnt change the barrel just the ignition switch. Found an old guide online and went with the universal joint near the pedals, then raised the steering column to get at the screw behind the switch. Pain in the **** and it was chucking it down mostly (hence no pics sorry). But its done and running fine again. Feels tighter and more secure when turning the key, the old one was loose and turned really easily. Was on its way out for a while me thinks
Hey, sorry I've not updated for a long while. Car's had a fair amount of work done in the past few weeks: -Cam belt/water pump -Steering rack (leaking) -PS pump and belt + aux belt -thermostat housing (melted???) -wishbones (rusted and cracked) oil and filter change the other day and ne shocks and apex lowered springs to go on soon Pics to follow asap!!!!!!
Good to hear from you again.did you do all the work yourself,I have just put a Weber on my 1.8 auto (what a difference that’s made ) just replaced rubber brake hoses today
I did the thermostat housing, wishbones, track rod ends oil+filter etc Got in in the garage for the belts, pumps and steering rack. Wish I had a lift haha Yeah the Weber is great. Once you get used to the manual choke
Great work ,my one and only attempt on a Pierburg was a hassle got it running ok for customer but thought about a weber from a 1600GT escort or 2000 cortina ,however we did talk but he did a 16v conversion in the end. May I suggest getting a auto choke insert for your carb ,have seen them,my worry is leaving the hand choke on and flooding and stuffing your motor, anyway your car and up to you. Like the wheels really nice not seen them before, cheers and go well.
