I couldnt help but notice now a few times, that this guy has a great time for his MK1 which is "only" a 2ltr 8valve on carbs. Hes down as I think 5th quickest with 0-60 of 5.5 dead and quarter in 13.74. Im looking to build a 2ltr 16valve (possibly on webers I dont know) which Id be very happy if it got anywhere close to that let alone beat it and thats with 16valves! Can anyone tell me more about his setup?
Yeah I just found this out from a PM from someone Doh. That would be why then. Its hardly "just" a 2ltr 8 valve. Still good going tho!
Yup, light and very good ratios in teh box summit like a 2.0 8v, big valve head, twin carbs and a silly cam. approx 180bhp IIRC.
I think it did 60 in 1st gear and hit the limiter at 120 in 5th, so you can see how close that box must be. Oh and you dont get to win the VW cup by just being an average drive .
I thought you drove a standard corrado and had a mk2 vr6 around 200bhp? Of which neither can hit 60 in 5.5?
Maybe they can, but I have a timing slip showing a 1/4 mile of 13.75. And a 60' time of 2.034 seconds, so that's got to be a sub 6sec 0-60. It had 207BHP.
Warning, don't bother contesting my claims, because I can back them all up with timing slips and dyno plots. I don't make false boasts.
lol. Theyre not GTI Inters times by any chance? Anyway, Id want to go round corners in my golf so would rule out VR6 performance times by default
I remember seing Phatty's excellent lap times at one of the track days in a recent rabit, they were damn good and i'm sure the track had a good few corners on it
No, York Dragway, they're on their website too if you don't believe me. Oh, and I came 3rd at the Scottish national day, it's in this months VW Motoring. And 4th fastest lap at Curborough too. I was 2nd, but I went home at 3:30 and 2 other people pipped me to a better time as the track was drying out through out the day. So it handles too. Any more questions?
Yes i have one Do you have an inlet manifold to TB gasket? VAG just let me down big time, i have got the other 2 in my hand.
