I have a 2002 golf gti, yesterday I fixed the gasket before the turbo then I would get no boost. after driving around for about an hour boost came back but only 15 psi compared to the 23psi before. worked fine for the rest of the night then next day no boost again and did not come back even after a very long 2hrs of driving. I have a k04 turbo with apr stage one tune just in case it matters , is it probably the wga ? Anybody have any ideas of what it could be ?

    Morning (in the UK).

Did you run a fault check with a scanner?

    Can you share those results?

I ran a obd test and it came back with one fault and the code was p1296 don't now if it has anything to do with the turbo not making boost or not.

Usually points to a dodgy coolant temp sensor.

Pretty common on MK4 era vehicles.
