    Hi guys
Wondering if anyone has put a mk5 r32 engine in an early golf 4 mo, got late mk5 engine and engine loom but wondering if it will work on mk1 tt ecu which I have found
Have read somewhere mk1 tt ecu will work on mk5 engine but not vice versa!???
I have early and late vvt camshaft pulleys if it's just a simple as that swap over!!

    R32 ecu

I have had a look on elsa and appears that mk 1 tt camshaft sensors appear to have same same pattern as the aue cam sensor,so i will try running it on the 4 mo ecu and possibly lock up cam adjusters in retarded state for max top end hp as this is gonna be a race engine and not too worried about midrange too much at the mo,i know ill lose a bit of midrange torque and hp but am on a budget and its gotta be better than the current 2.8 either way!!
I waiting on a reply from r-tech about coding out all the cam adjuster faults it will probably throw up!!
Someone out there has got to have done some thing similar surely???

    You mean the crankshaft sensor?

The AUE engine and ECU hardware carried over some bits of US 12v hardware (ME7.1), then changed to the BDE or BFH/BHE system (ME7.1.1) COP, independent cam adjustment etc in 2001. It then changes again with the later BDB/BUB engines (ME7.1.1 returnless fuel supply) before the engines become FSI engines.

MK5 3.2 V6 into MK4, yes once you carry across the control system and fuel delivery module.

Our opinion here does not matter if you already plan on paying a professional.

Nope , camshaft sensor, the hall sender pattern on the rear of the camchain gear appears same on mk1 tt to the aue, will be interesting to see what power it makes with no vvt control, have seen a few r32 lumps without this used but I assume they're on standalone management.i heard from ken lark that grantley wood hatch locks the vvt pulleys up and runs them like that but with std cams and no info as to where to dial them into its a bit hit and miss!

What you are thinking of doing it how my 4motion is running just now
    It won't run right
I'm converting mine to run with the right BUB ECU and hardware Eddie has my ECU at the minute looking into taking the immobiliser off
I have the rest of the hardware here

I plan to use the mk4 R32 loom with the plugs of the vvt changed to Mach the smaller solinoids mk4 fuel rail and pressure regulator instead of the filter pressure regulator the mk5 uses both should be 4 bar
The bigger mk5 maf fitted to mk1 3.2 TT airbox

The AUE or the early Beetle RSI 3.2 engine does not come into this discussion. The cylinder head VVT is very different (like a later 1.8T).
If we are comparing BUB with BHE, then yes the cam signals are similar but the phasing and referencing is different. The intake cam is also different to suit the drop in compression also.
Grantly Hatch and what he does to the cams for racing confirms what I said in another thread on locked cams and optimum performance.

any links to the above discussion?
I sense a bit of sarcasm in your wording,or is it just me!!?
I have converted many cars and havent failed yet,i think i was the first person to put a 2.0 tdi from a golf 5 into a mk2 golf(from my old vw cup mk5 gti, 220bhp and oodles of torque) and yes it ran fine and went like a rocket!!
Interesting to find out the subtle differences in these engines tho!

Any elaboration on not running right??
Have you had it power tested??
Not too fussed about low down grunt as its gonna spend most of its time by the red bit!!
But ideally proper conversion is the way forward!!

    Yes the link is >>here<<
I am here to to help when I can while busy with other tasks. I was being 100% serious and have no desire to be sarcastic. I can read a bit abrupt I know but not sure what read sarcastic. Feel free to enlighten though.

Not doubting your skill for conversions (I would be silly to as I do not even know you!). However there are specifics even the best conversion specialist can miss.
Later EA390 engines (022) just before the FSI era (03H), run cam timings at different reference points. As I am one of the few who has seen the full calibration for all, I can tell you there are quite a few hardware and control changes between BHE/BFH/BDE engines and BDB/BUB. So I will let you into a little secret why you cannot mix and match engine modules.

All engines, except very early 24v is single VVT adjustment (AUE) have of movement on both cams independently. The range and reference position of the cams varies between 022 motors from 1 era or emission legislation to the other.

Realising this is a question that is often asked, I have created a post on it >>here<<. It will become clear.

Feel free to ask anything else.
