I own a '96 MK3 Colour Concept (GTi 8v) and the suspension was lowered by the original owner. I've owned the car for 3 years now, and I'm sick of the bumpy ride.

Does anyone know what the original suspension height for the MK3 GTi was?

I reckon that mine has been lowered by about 40mm since the rear 15" BBS sit level with the wheel arch and the front sit 40mm below the wheel arch.

My problem is that I think the car looks great with the lowered suspension, but the ride is too rough. Maybe if I raise it a bit (<20mm) and soften it up? What are the options?? Please help!

    Cheers

Have you thought about getting some ride adjustable shocks if you like the height it is already?

Sounds like its lowered about 80mm mate. :) Try Koni's/Eibachs - the best non coilover package you can buy.

If it was lowered by the original owner and you've had it three years, the suspension is probably a bit knackered by now. Might be time for new dampers to make things more comfortable?
