    Hi all,

I'm on the verge of putting my Mk2 on the market (when I finally sort the gearbox) as I have rather a lot of children and need an 8-seater.

I'm looking for some indication of what a realistic price might be for it.

    First some pics:

They're actually a bit old as I have a single-headlamp grille on it now, and 16" TSW wheels.

    Spec is:

    1991 GTI 16v 5 door
    Metallic midnight blue.
    2 litre TSR short block
TSR gas flowed cylinder head (Pk A)
    TSR stainless steel exhaust manifold
    Kent GF1602 cams
    Vernier
    New set of cam followers
    Vibratech front engine mount
    Recent clutch
K Star + tuning (by Stealth Racing)
    Mk 3 rear brake calipers
TSR big brake conversion to 285mm discs with Goodrich brake hoses
    High capacity baffled sump
    Windage tray
Think Automotive 10 row oil cooler
Lazerline Thatcham CAT 1 alarm linked to central locking
    Lazerline window lifter kit
    Bilstein PSS9 monotube coilover kit
    Rear strut brace
    Front strutt brace (Neuspeed)
Eibach roll bars front and rear with new links
    Superpro rear beam bushes
    Superpro front wishbone bushes
    G60 top mounts
Vibratech G2 front wishbone rear units
    Powerflex subframe bushes
Car set up on corner weights.
Varley Red Top 40 Racing battery mounted in boot
Milltek stainless steel exhaust fitted at the factory
OZ Racing Super Legera 15" (currently running 16" TSW wheels with Potenza SO2 tyres)
    Corbeau GTS seats
Single headlamp front grille (not shown in photos)
    Headlamp relay conversion
Rolling-roaded at 175 bhp on normal unleaded fuel.

    What do you reckon?

I start the bidding at one bottle of redex...LOL

Tbh pricing a heavily modified car like that is difficult-some would be put off, some will be more keen. Have a good look at all the mk2s on Pistonheads and see where yours fits in would be my advice-you might get insulted on here!

Oh, I'm very thick-skinned and don't take offence easily! I'll prob. be advertising on Pistonheads when I get it sorted and ready to sell, but thought I'd get some feedback on here as well.

It's basically a sleeper - looks fairly standard but goes like stink. Everything's been done properly so it's not going to fall apart or blow up after a few hundred miles. I love it, but sadly it doesn't have enough seats so it's gonna have to go.

Looks a really clean car and sounds as if you have treated it well. 5 doors will de-value though. must be worth 1500-2000.
ps. bet your house is crazy! 2 kids nearly drives me mad.

Yeah, but there are too many of them and their limbs stick out and the lid won't shut. :)

If it's as good close up as it looks in the pics, and if you can prove it's got all those bits on it, then I'd start around 2.5k on pistonheads, or even a bit more, but don't expect a fast sale with something as specialised as that.

BTW, want to sell your OZ rims separately? PM me ;)

Aye, it's pretty clean - only a couple of minor scabs.

I'll hopefully get it back soon!

Would love to keep it, but I work from home and hardly need a car at all. And when I do, I need one with 8 seats for all the kids! It's a shame for it to jut sit on the drive - it needs driving.

The money you have spent on it shows it means a lot to you! Tuck it away for "your" pleasure use and get a cheaper family bus, or get another car and you and your favourite three can follow or lead in the mk2! ;)

hate reading threads where dads end up being the one penalised in these situations! [:^(]
