I need to get the rear door skin off to replace a broken window regulator. I can't seem to get the skin past the door handle. I know there's an easy solution, i just don't know what it is.

Any ideas how to get the skin off?

No, I couldn't see how the door handle came off. I'm used to Mk2's where you can take off the handle by taking a screw out on the handle and one in the side of the door. The Mk5 handle is a little different :(

There is a grommet in the side of the door that you take out, then you see a torx20 socket which you have to wind out untill you can remove the lock blank, you then remove the lock cable from the handle and then you can pull the handle out, there is then another torx screw that holds the lock carrier to the doorskin that you will see when you remove the handle

thats spot on, make sure the handle has a little elastic v
band that supports the handle from falling off

the torx you undo, it turn around and locks in the mech in - just tug on the hangle slighty to help it lock in place
