Just noticed this morning, when i have my hazard lights on and my lights.
The tail light flashes slightly when the hazard lights go out. Its also the same when i indicate on both sides.

    Whats causing this?
I dont want my car looking like a crappy ford or french tin can.

    Poor earthing.

You probably have some rust around the light cluster, that is making the earth connection not work.

Have a look for a bolt with a brown lead going to it somewhere around the back of the boot. Give it a good clean, remove at the rust. A quick coat of copper grease will stop it rusting again.

    Simon.

Theres a bolt on the left hand side of the boot with about 3 wires going to it..

Perfectly ok, its behind my boot side carpets.

    Thanks for the help..

Thats the one, take it off clean up all the contact and retighten. Whilst youre there check the wiring with a multimeter because you have an earth fault like TOSimon says.

Check the plugs on both rear clusters too and make sure you have no dodgy connections or bent pins etc.

My girlfrinds AX had the same thing and the solution was as we have described.

Yup, on me girlfrinds AX, the brake lights would be fine untill you start indicating, then they would go dim in time with the indicators.

Well mine goes dim when the indicator is off, then goes back bright when the indicator flashes. (if that makes sense)

My mates mk2 does it aswell.

Could it be something to do with the second fog light wire which has been put in.

Which connects using a spade connector on the bottom of each culster.

Take the bulb holder out and have a good look at it, check for corosion and dodgy bulb connections.

my mk1 used to do it so i cleaned the light cluster connections with wire wool, and bent the pins in the plugs closer together to fit tighter.
my problem was on the passenger side (earth) but caused both lights to flash as the pass feeds the drivers.
