Got the same issue on my royal blue, never did fix it

I reckon it's a break in the wiring going to the wiper motor as there's no voltage, you could have the same problem.

Jammed up spindle mech i reckon. Had this on mine and replaced it last month. Dis-connect lever from spinle mech inside boot lid and see if you can turn the spindle by grabbing the wiper arm and moving back and forth. This was the problem on mine and turns out it was a French part. Typical!

^ what he said, probably the mechanism joints are seized.

Most likely the wiring at top of boot where wiring comes from roof into tailgate. Pull back rubber boot and you will find wiring broken. Most common cause on MK2's.

Sounding like mine, I've changed the stalk, relay, checked wiring (where I can) yet to check under roof lining as it's perfect and don't want to damage it, replaced motor/arm etc...

Hope you get it fixed, I've had my royal blue golf since 2008 and still haven't fixed it

As said most probably broken wires. I had not rear window heater, then no number plate lights and no wiper.

A few wires broken inside the rubber boot was the culprit, pain in the ass to fix.

Wires may not look broken, as insulation is flexible, but wire inside becomes brittle and breaks internally. As said, pain in the **** to fix. I used a test lamp and found where the break was and cut out and soldered in a new section.

I fixed mine [:D] It was frayed wiring in the rubber bung between the hatch and body top left. Taped up all the wires that had frayed and were shorting out, replaced the fuses again all it worked.

First time I've had it working in 5 years [:$]
