My Mk2 has a non functioning rear wiper, or I don't know how to make it work!! The washer for it does work, and I was lead to belive that the wiper should work at the same time, but it does not. I belive the rear wiper spindle can seize, however there are signs that the electrical wires in the tail gate have been got at. I should also add that somone in the past has re-arranged the rear wiper to sit flat, how hard is this to undo?

It is very common for the wiring to chafe/break in the little rubber boots where the loom enters the top of the tailgate. Check here for broken/poorly repaired wires.
