Finally got around to getting a replacement pump given my current one is noisy as fook.

Just need to know how to empty the PAS fluid prior to swapping the pumps out and just wish to check the following is correct.

Remove the jublee clip and remove the rubber hose from the PAS pump (Low pressure side?) stick it in a bucket and run the engine for a few seconds to empty the reseviour?

EDIT: Just had a thought; the above wont works as there will be nothing to pump so is removing the flexyhose sufficient to drain the system?

New crush washers for the banjo- swap out pumps, reconnect flexy hose, fill with PAS fluid and turn sterring lock to lock a few times till no bubbles appear in reseviour?

Yep the weather is a fat lump of steaming excrement isn't it.

Founda s et of LR5V GL bumpers at xmas thinking no nutter will be in for these for a while given the weather. Turned up this morn n some git had literally ripped the front one off to get at the rad so didn't even bother taking the back. Not a happy bunny. [xx(]

It was -3 today at lunchtime, laying on my back in the scrappy for the best part of an hour (other stuff removed beside PAS pump)

I was well wrapped up and toasty too... Jeans, heavy coolmax base layer, fleecy sweatshirt, full length ovies, padded 'rhino' type shirt, Steiner, Karrimor boots, rubber faced gloves with vinyls on top... proper toasty! -3? hah.. no bother you soft southern pussies! ;)

Oil & filter at 9am tommorow inc PAS pump... [xx(]

Is PAS fluid generic or do I need a specific type?

Was about six quid a bottle from my local dealer in June (Pulman VW, Durham), except they told me I needed 4 litres to fill from dry!! (I didn't [:[], 1 litre only as Matt says).
