I had a Revo remap on my Mk4. Over 100k miles later, the engine was still going strong. The rest of the car gave up first. lol
My view about these generic remaps, while they chuck out numbers on a dyno, improving the WOT response of the vehicle, nothing beats custom tuning in real life conditions. This type of tuning takes into account real vehicle response from any pedal input or drivers torque request. I appreciate not everyone can benefit from that type of tuning and these generic maps would be ok for most.
I've been looking into this also for my mk6 Gti. Maybe bill (badger 5) can chime In but arnt the revo maps tweeked when installed for each car? So starts as a generic base then is tweeked.
MK6 = APR. Revo allows some limited adjustment but nothing like a man armed the address file and bin file them some targeting tuning just like a SEM!
Right I see. Would you say apr are better for the mk6 then Eddie? Revo do list the mk6 Gti with 2.0 tsi engine. Or better, wait until there is more options out there, I read it's not a easy ecu to work with on the later golfs. Sorry if it feels I'm hijacking thread. To the Orginal poster I've read r tech were also suppose to be good with the mk5 Tfsi engines.
Thanks guys. Could be the way forward. Are they stored if the battery is changed or goes flat at all?.
They are but you need to buy their switch (sps) to switch it back on[emoji22] I would recommend Rtech, cheaper and custom. They are based in hinckley just south of Leicester.
Unless things have changed (which I doubt very much), the switch is only used to change the map slightly. You can get a generic map, and you'll never have to touch it again. It will also remain even if you remove the ECU from the car, and then put it back in later. I had an SPS, and it lay in my glove box for the entire time I owned it. lol
