Outside of Liddle's they were advertising a set of ring spanners that looked perfect for undoing top nuts, they had a really big neck on them and were 2.99!!! obviously cack quality but might be worth a shot. My store had sold out though [:^(]

Have a good look at the ring end of them, usually the casting is so crap they're mishaped. Notice it more on the smallest ones

They'll be rubbish at that price. 10 Drapers will be far more worth having.

i've got a couple sets, absolutely spot on

    Ideal for using and abusing.

Their pliers etc aswell are as good, usually justthe generic Draper/sealer type stuff you see rebranded all over the place but dirt cheap.

For 2.99 they won't be the best, but the other side of that is, if you end up grinding the heads down to make them fit, or cutting/welding them, then there's not much to lose ...

(as long as you wear goggles in case they shatter).

Halfords do a the perfect tool for top mount nuts...

    Vortex ratchet set.

Hollow ratchet, so you can still hold the rod with an allen key.

Doubt they have any left now at lidl, anyhow you don't want to use an impact tool on a strut top nut unless its already leaking or something.

I always keep 1 or 2 sets of cheeeepy spanners/sockets in the garage just incase I need to weld 1 to a nut to get it loose or some such thing. view them in the way you would view disposable latex gloves.

on the other hand I did end up with 3 stitches in my finger when a cheap socket I was using to do up a ball joint fractured and I punched the edge of the wishbone [8(]

Whats the bother with getting top nuts off.... Big plug wrench, associated spanner on the plug wrench and allen key thru the middle - works every time without a prob
