get garmin software, not as fancy as tom tom but the mapping can't be faulted and it's NAVTEQ so alot smaller in size

I have TomTom on my N73 - used to use it on an N80 but I got rid of it for the larger screen.

Never used Route 66 so I can't really say...

But in my opinion TomTom is very good. :) There's almost no lag, it's pretty precise, it never, ever crashes. I guess my only moan is that sometimes it can take 10 minutes for it to get a signal, but I'm thinking that's more likely my GPS receiver!

My postcode database it a little wrong though. I drove to Newport uni the other day by postcode, and it took me to the Royal Mail depot... :p

I am very pleased with it. I don't have a single map or atlas in my car anymore because I depend on it so much...

The only thing it's not so good with is Birmingham. I keep going through a tunnel, losing the connection and then it doesn't reconnect for about 15 seconds, by which time I've taken the wrong turning!

to be honest destinator was 100 times better than tom tom... although tom tom is more user friendly

I`ve got one of these QStarz 880

Its billed as The Worlds fastest fix GPS

I find it gets a signal VERY quickly and even when going round the peripherique in france, which has LOADS of tunnels, it got fixes very quickly...

    It's just a cheap 12 channel receiver from ebay - about 40.
