    ok, I found this site:

    http://www.evoms.com/vw Brakes.htm

which says that if you have a 43mm offset you can possibly do the 312mm brake setup even with porsche calipers, so surely with 43mm offset (which I have) I can get the normal S3/TT calipers on?

I saw the pic and it just didnt click in my brain what I was looking at, which way round it was. I see it now.

The other page says about having 5mm spacers on ET38 wheels to bring them to ET43 also, so maybe thats some useful info.

I'll be awake with my glasses on tomorrow.

    And I may have found a 312mm brake setup off a mk4 v64m........

sh1t, mine fell through, they dont wanna split the brakes from the rest of the engine/etc... so if anyone wants a full V6 24V setup, I know where one is (if they are rare).

anyone know where any TT/S3/V6 brakes could be? Any good audi breakers?

Yep, that was calipers, carriers AND discs. The discs are a little worn but reusable (will get them skimmed first).

    [:D]

Try a post on the TT forum "wanted" section.
    http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/

There are always guys on there upgrading from their stock TT brakes to Brembos or Porsche setup etc.

    Cheers

    Hey S1MMA

Have seen your threads on your 312mm conversion - looks great in red.

Mine went on last week at Stealth Racing - no problems getting them to fit apparently - they sourced some longer bolts and had a spacer machined up.

Still bedding in but the brakes feel awesome already. 312mm discs look huge plus the pads are much bigger than the 280mm setup. I have new discs and pads at the rear too now (stock sizes) so braking will be super all round now.I went for some Pagid pads too to whilst i was at it.

No problems with clearance for me as i run 16" audi TT rims already on car (mk3 gti 2.0 colour concept).

    cheers
    Rob

nice one mate, as you can see from the other threads I have my stuff all ready to go on also. And there's about 2mm clearance under my rims with a bit of grinding. I know what you mean about pad sizes being so much bigger, I think i posted a pic of the difference in my thread.

Just gotta get the time to put mine on, probably wont be till oct. Hope you enjoy anyway mate! [:D]

Yep, awesome. No real change in pedal effort, normal day to day driving is not much different to stock feel with good pads/discs, but when you really press the pedal you almost go thru the windscreen

You can feel the extra weight at the front - those big discs will add quite a bit to the unsprung weight unfortunately, but overall a totally worthwile upgrade for not much cash [:D]Very happy with the results.

Suggest anyone doing this that you do the rears at the same time - ie don't do the fronts if you have tatty worn out discs and naff pads on the rear. The stopping effort these brakes give you on the front is awesome, so your rears need to be tip top to minimise any imbalance. I've not triggered the abs yet, but i've had the fronts on the point of lockup/squealing tyres in the dry - no issues with stability but i'm glad i did the rears at the same time. Pagid pads feel good - lots of dusts whilst they bed in but good feel, grippyness and no pad/disc squealing like ive had with hard pagids on my other car.

    :)
