Thought it was about time I posted up some pictures of my Corrado and to show you what I have been up to recently. How she looked before I took her to the ring in Nov last year. In the car park at the ring (we only last half a day to the fog) Engine bay stripped New bearings Dropping in the re-ringed pistons Spacer plate to drop C/R
Following on Back together S2 exhaust manifold with 5th runner cut off using KKK24 and Audi Wastegate S2 inlet manifold with 5th runner chopped off and new flange welded on Picture of modified exhaust manifold Powdercoated subframe with Passat wishbones, Seat Ibiza rack from a 52 plate car and using Powerflex bushes
And latest work after taking three days of work Engine and box back in place. Fitted lightened flywheel from Race Power Motorsport and VR6 clutch Thought there might have been clearance issues with the wastegate but plenty of room Trial fitted the Rallye intercooler Have things to crack on with such as the loom for the megasquirt, the oil feed for the turbo and as the turbo is also watercooled I need to work in some lines for that and possibly a small electric pump. Then onto downpipe and boost pipes.
Cheers Paul. Considered the 1.8T route for about 5 minutes then remembered Stonor park last year where pretty much every Mk2 golf in the show and shine was running them and am seeing more going into Corrado's now. It's a 9a block with new bearings and piston rings. Was looking into forged pistons (cheers GVK for the heads up), but felt it would take me over budget with the re-bore, balance etc.
German Plates Have heard that dubmeister have sorted out their quality issues so you could look there.
cheers. just thought it looked a bit different to the normal font used on the pressed plates. i'll have a look.
Getting an S2 fuel rail modified, sourcing some S2 injectors then fitting megasuirt and loom, then trailer it down to an exhaust place to sort out the downpipe and the boost pipes. Also need to purchase a wideband lambda kit either off ebay or from Darren at G-werks. As I am using a G60 radiator I then need to source the water pipes, then it gets down to the little things. But at least the end is now in sight and I just need to push on. And just for you jenks my mates G60 that he has just sold
Nice 1! Looks white at the back tho! the way the sun has caught it! U enjoy the ring then?! Fog looked bad!
Wasn't sure if it was the camera or picturetrail, but it does look a little odd... well it's sold now so someone else can put up with the Stevie Wonder paintjob. Favourite Silver Corrado has to be Gareth OSV's. Ring was awesome. Went at a strange time as there were only 2 weekends of the season left. We were there for Sat-Mon. Sat was a bit hairy as there was some pretty special machinery out and about and I was trying to get to grips with thrashing the **** out of my car for 13k's non-stop without knowing the track very well (apart from some GT4 sighter laps). Sunday was rainy in the morning so did one very tentative lap before deciding it just wasn't fun or worth risking it. Session was cut short as a result of that fog. Monday was awesome... sun was out and there were few cars about. Being able to do a full lap whilst only being overtaken once was a nice change to Saturday where it was like a swarm of locals and Porsche's flying past. Looking to go back some time this year, but will still treat it with caution and may try and do a track day in this country with more run-off area so I can explore the limits in less scary surroundings.
Wow just stumbled across this, I now own this car, bought it as an engine less shell 18 months ago, now has an R32 in it
