Yeh the fuel filler neck is a common problem, how to i check how bad it is? HAs anyone had/driven one, i assume the 1.6 motor is about 70bhp?

IIRC it is 75bhp in uk spec - i'd imagine the german one is the same

200 - you wouldn't pay 400 for a RHD of similar vintage. Check out a few ebay auctions so you can show the seller how little the 1.6's fetch.

Also, check the idle from cold - make sure the seller hasn't "warmed" the car up first.

Have you had an insurance quote yet?

    If it's like mine it's 4 plus E.

urine poor slow even though it's group 14 ffs.

As unfashionable as VW's get but it costs nothing to run and it's passed it's mot every year for the past three so it's paid for what it cost back when it had 43K on the clock. :)

Fuel filler neck, just open the petrol cap and look into the pipe - if it's rusty it'll need replacing asap.
