Just bought a 91 scirocco, 1.8cc Injection with the DX engine.
Is this basically the same as the Mk1 golf motor???
I'm going to be buying a few new parts and Ebay is more accomadating to Mk1 golfs than siroccos when it comes to spares.

More aerodynamic than a Golf and lighter than a Golf
DX Skyrocket is a really delightful old car :-)
    Wish I still had one

In general the chassis and running gear is essentially the same, not sure what model mk1 golf the DX went in but pretty sure it did at some point.

What stuff are you looking at getting?

I was looking at getting injectors, and engine/gearbox mounts.
Plus its always handy to know what bits from other cars fit.
Thanks for the info on chassis and running gear.

The DX is the Mk1 GTi engine from what I remember. Pretty much everything chassis wise from the MK1 matches the Scirocco.

You're better looking for bits from a late Golf GTi cabrio if you can - they changed the engine design a bit mid-80's with slightly different injectors and electrics. The late model mk1 cabrio was still being made at this time and thus saw similar changes.

Old thread, but for info the mech or hydro tappet is a change between early and late engines and something to be wary of if buying cam or head related parts.
