while i was staying at my brothers for a few days last week i was in his local pub when one the locals got talking to me about my car out side and said he knew of vw scirocco that some one was getting rid off so we swapped numbers and went our different ways got a call yesterday from mr scirocco owner wanting to know if i wanted it so went through the normal has it got any mot,tax what nick is it in is it a runner he answerd no. no needs work & dont know its my sons who now lives in south of france. il get my son to ring you (yeah ok mate) son rings this morning i can have the car as long as i give his old man a drink and get rid of/scrap the car in front of it (old audi) The car:-red 1987 scirocco 1.8 gt audi 80 2ltr 16v engine fitted not ruining as only 95% complete rear disk conversion not fitted (still in box in boot) complete gaz fully adjustable suspension set up (as above) pair of webber 45 dcoe`s no manifold not seen the car yet but im goin the weekend to have a look only problem is the car is 240 miles away from me so im going to need a low loader to get it back [:^(]
Where is it? I'll have it, I love Scioccos Light as a Mk1, more aerodynamic than any Golf = better than any Golf
sciroccos arent worth much, due to market forces which I dont understand (image I suppose). But they are good cars, so the way I see it, they are worth more than people seem prepared to pay for them. Better than golfs, I agree, from a driving perspective. But less practical. If you like sciroccos and you have the space / time / money to sort one out, you should DEFINITELY say yes to a free one.
im thinking more of a road/track car some thing i can drive to a track and drive back anyone know of one of these engines runing on carbs must be the same set up as a kr on carbs i imagine
The car:-red 1987 scirocco 1.8 gt audi 80 2ltr 16v engine fitted not ruining as only 95% complete rear disk conversion not fitted (still in box in boot) complete gaz fully adjustable suspension set up (as above) pair of webber 45 dcoe`s no manifold /QUOTE] a fuel pump = 2.5% manifold=2.5% = 100%
Go for it. Best thing I did was go from golfs to a rocco. So much easier to find one in good condition for a good price too. Mk2 golfs are getting like mk1's now, even 1.3's are surprising to find left in one unbodged peice. I got a mk2 storm for 500, can't see anyone getting a golf the same spec in good condition for that price.
the golf at the bottom of my sig ive got plans for but im in no rush to do that still collecting parts for it just been reading gvk thread on his 6a engine as he said him self hes done alot to it with not much gain when you look at what his old 9a engine put out not sure what if any mods have been done to the engine in the rocco but in stock form with twin carbs it must be good for 160 bhp or so ( ive already started and i aint even got the car yet ) these gaz shocks/coil overs any one heard of them
i say go for it mate, i have had 3 roccos and my white gt2 was probs one of the best cars i have had. can deffo be set up to handle very very well and should be very quick with a 16v motor....and retro cool!!
Debateable that! I had to ged rid of mine because it needed 800 worth of welding!!! I have to say though, despite that, they are great cars, and they are MUCH better looking than any Golf and a joy to drive!!! So get it!
I have had a Y reg 1.6 CL (Webber Carb) and a B reg 1.8 GT and really loved both of them. The seats were a bit uncofortable on long journeys and being 6'3" my head always touched the roof ! I always wanted a GTX or GTII as the 1.8 GT as standard was really dissapointing compared with the 1.6 Webber (2e2 replacement) - tiny inlet manifold compared to the 1.6 CL - so you'll need to sort that out if you planning on keeping the 8v lump in it. If you have the space and get get hold of a low loader then go for it !
6ft tall head touches the roof too. That's where the tilting sunroof comes in useful, extra headroom.
