    as per my other thread

    I`m looking at Ibiza Cupra 16v around years 98 - 99

seem to be good value but very difficult to find!

I understand that is basically a polo wheel base with a VW 16v 1.8 engine - please correct me if im wrong.

This would seem to be fast and affordable car circa 3 - 4k.

But it seems to be lacking in performance compared to say a 16v mk2 Golf or even a Saxo VTS with a 1.6 engine.

Opinions on reliability, performance, running/parts costs or anything most appreciated.

They run the abf engine. Usually get about 160-165bhp when well run in as standard, just like Mk3 Golfs. In a Polo sized shell it makes them very fast and will outperform a mk3 16v gti.

Polo4 rear beam, Golf2/3 mix front suspension, G60 front brakes, Gti rears, Polo4 interior, all the other info u need on cupra.net

ps I've since found out you get lightweight lifters on the SEAT ABF engine, if that makes a difference to you ;)

Did you get the idea from my post in your other thread?

If you can get a nice one for C3k, tell me where! Me and the other half have looked into one in th past, gut we just cant find any!

Isn't that the sort of half way shape between the old ones (brought out at the same time as the mk3 Golf, and the new, new ones (read: 'Ugly')? They look sweet and there's a girl drives a mint Yellow one round here.

And yes, they do go. She once taught me a lesson on a bit of dual carriageway near us... I shaln't be trying again until I've got, a)an ABF in my mk2, or b)a VR in my mk2!!!!

165bhp in a polo! Fecking should be illegal tohave so much fun as standard!

    Fordham [:D]

these cars are nearly impossible to find - even the 8v cupra sells very quick.

I rang up 10 numbers for 8v and 16v in autotrader - all sold
