Charge - winner of the August competion - has chosen the subject for September - Modern Architecture. Certainly a different subject from usual and great scope for some exciting pictures, so am expecting some amazing entries! Rules 1) Photos to Bristolfish by 25 September, please. You may send them by PM or link to where you've hosted them. 2) Small to moderate amount of Photoshopping allowed - sensible cropping/levels/cloning, but not fullscale manipulation. Trust everyone to do this and not cheat! 3) jpg.s only, please, at screen resolution (72dpi) and not bigger than 700px either height or width 4) Photo must be taken after the start of this competition, not something you've already done 5) No voting for your own photograph 6) You may give your picture a title if you wish. 7) By request - strip out your exif data so the pictures are totally anonymous. Do this in Photoshop/Elements, by saving for 'Web or device'. Good luck! __________________
Cheers Stella. As above; you can either PM or e-mail me the photo, or the link to it. If you need my e-mail address, please ask, i'll PM it back to you. To make sure my junk folder hasn't grabbed it, i'll acknowledge all entries, within 24 hours of receipt. If you don't hear from me in that time send me a PM. Best of luck with a great topic (well done Charge. ) PS. If anyone wants to enter, but isn't able to resize the picture or strip it to make it anonymous, let me know.
I can strip myself & take a photo but I'm not sure that Nelson's Coumn will fit the criteria of "modern architecture"
Otherwise the picture can be opened in Photoshop and any file associations can be read. If the pictures are anonymous there can be no bias towards (or against ) the entrant. It's a light hearted competition, giving a chance to show off some skills. Continuing on from Stella, i'll trust the pictures sent to me fit the rules, and spirit, of the contest.
Less than a week to go, though that may be slightly flexible; especially if I don't get mine done before the weekend. How's everyone doing?
After all the flack I gave other people about late submission of pictures when I was running the monthly photo comp, I am now in the embarrassing position of being... well, ..... late! I've accidentally deleted my (surely prize-winning) entry from my memory card! I'll try to get out to the site and take another pic before the weekend and send it in in the hope that it might still be acceptable. Except, of course, this time the lighting will be all wrong and people and cars and dogs and children and pensioners will get in the way of this fantastic piece of modern architecture .........
Stella, the competition runs until the 25th (Saturday). But as i'm not at home this weekend, it may very well not end until Monday-ish.
Rich - being disorganised as I am, I already have the recovery software (somewhere) but had to reuse the CF card. I have at least half a dozen of them, from 1gb up to 8gb but I only ever seem to have one with me that is always almost full! BF - I went after work tonight, and in the interest of taking a photograph of some (very) modern architecture, I nearly got myself run over and got soaked, as a thunderstorm blew up whilst I was there. Nothing like devotion to the cause, is there? I hope you're not going on holiday in the middle of your first competition. You have to take this job seriously, you know, else they all start complaining ......
It better be a good shot after all that. No, it's not a holiday, just a little break. I could close it on Saturday, but it'll be a bit tricky.
There's none where I live either, i'm making a special trip to get the photo. You could apply some of your thinking 'round corner skills.
The only thinking that went around corners, for me, were the bullets from a Sturmgewehr 44, with the bent extension! Stephen Fry was allowed to hold one, on last week's edition of QI! Lucky sod!
