shhhhhhh from tdi

Not been on for a while but was wondering if anybody had any idea what this loud shhh/ hssssss noise was from my bora tdi. Had it looked at 5 weeks ago and an intercooler pipe replaced which seemed to solve the problem, even seemed a lot nippier than originaly. Unfortunately the noise has returned and is a lot louder than before. It occurs just before 1500rpm, as if only when turbo is splooling up. Hope it ain't a new turbo I need but if it is any idea what they cost and is it wise to get VW to do it?

yep, performance dropped and hesitant just as turbo comes in. Hope its just the hose but why you reckon its gone, can't be new one unless vw garage has done me.

 

cant you have a look under there to see which pipe is dead?

 

I'm betting the hose wasn't clamped up properly so its popped off.

 

if it popped off that thing would have gone into major limp mode lol when the hose after the turbo on one of my pd130s split (130 for a foot of rubber hose from audi lol) first it went into limp mode, and after that it kept stalling, you needed your foot practically flat on the floor just to pull away from traffic lights

the bugger got me home tho.

splits are easy to spot on a diesel as you have jet black oil coming out of them

 

Without more info, it's impossible to say whether it is/isn't in limp, or is split/popped.
I don't believe it's necessarily popped right off, maybe more crooked with gap.
I'd also be very worried if an i/c pipe was replaced and the others weren't checked

 

Can't see anything when looked today. Its booked in on tue so hope it's just popped off pipe like you guys reckon. It does seem like it's in limp mode so I'll keep ya posted or ask for advice if they try and stitch me.

Now that it's sorted does anybody have any suggestions how to upgrade the power and where I could get it done. I live near Wigan in the north west. Any good referals?

The hose had popped off the end then?



A Remap will give you all you need.
Do a search on here - there's plenty of info.

apparently so, they didn't charge for the labour which athey said involved taking light unit out. So they shouldn't as only replaced hose 4 weeks ago. Need to sort performance upgrade now, any ideas?
