I'm currently in the process of doing a 20V conversion on my 6n polo but am having a problem with the shifter on the car
I am using an 02R Gearbox (late 02J box) from a 9n3 GTi and have the matching shifter mechanism and cables

Now the problem is that the car doesnt seem to want to go into gear

The bracket that sits ontop of the gearbox which holds the cables in place causes the cables to bend a fair bit and prevents us from selecting any gear

Without the bracket we get this

The pic may not show how stressed the cables are but the cable on the left has a bit of slack...the other just doesnt want to move.

We are considering moving the shifter tower in the centre tunnel further forward but we would like to avoid this if possible
Another thing we are considering is using shifter cables from an 02J but im not sure if they are any longer and therefore give us more slack

    Any help would be appreicated
