This morning my temp light flickered on for 2sec's then off again, the temp mark is sitting just below half way and the mfa says that my oil temp was 86 degrees

10mins later the same thing again, flickers for a few secs, temp just below half?

    Any ideas?

do i have a knackered sensor or is my motor about to blow[:s]

    It's a 8v mk2 gti

Are you talking about the light in the middle of the temp . gauge ??? if so have a look at your radiator fluid level .

Topped up the fluid & it seems fine now, it seems to have lost about half a inch of fluid, not sure were it went mybye an airlock?

As I put the dye in to check if the head had gone, but it didn't turn blue to indicate that C02 was getting in so the head is fine, bizzare?

    Thanx lads

Mine did the same thing the other week, first night the weather went below freezing (I was in the Lake District) and it seemed to lose about 250ml of coolant and the temp gauge light was flashing. Topped it up and checked all the hoses, been fine since. Weird?!?

I'd just keep an eye on it. :)
